Ottawa Lion Pride and the buffalo

Posted on November 28, 2010

The Ottawa pride are taking advantage of the big buffalo herds

With the big buffalo herd in the area the Ottawa Pride moved down from the north and managed to take down a youngish buffalo at one of the watering holes.

We were fortunate enough to get there not too long after the pride started their feeding frenzy, which accompanied by a perfect sunset and amazing scenery, was the perfect stage for this event to take place. This was an intense sighting with the lions constantly growling at each other and therefore giving everyone great photographic and viewing enjoyment.

Here are some photos from the sighting yesterday afternoon and video footage with the lions on the kill.

This was the perfect end to a great afternoon.
