Planning Your 2026 Leopard Hills Safari
A step-by-step guide to planning your safari with us.
A South African safari at Leopard Hills is more than a holiday, it’s an invitation to immerse yourself in Africa’s legendary bushveld, encountering iconic mammals and other elusive wildlife, all while enjoying world-class comfort.
If you’re dreaming of a 2026 safari, but aren’t sure of where to begin, this guide will walk you through the process, step-by-step, from choosing the season to booking your suite with us, so that you can turn your dream into a plan!
Let’s get the ball rolling – we can’t wait to welcome you to the Sabi Sand Nature Reserve.
Step 1: Choose the Best Time to Visit
The first step in planning your safari is deciding when to go. Each season in the Sabi Sand Nature Reserve has its own character:
Green Season (November to April): The bush is lush and green, rivers and water holes are full, and wildlife is vibrant. Expect occasional short rains and fewer crowds (outside of the Festive Season). Birdwatchers love this time of year, as migratory species are abundant.
Dry Season (May to October): Vegetation thins, making it easier to spot animals around water sources. This is the peak safari season, with clear skies and cooler mornings and evenings.
For first-time visitors, a safari of 3 to 4 nights is ideal. This allows you to experience multiple game drives and, if you choose, optional walking safaris for a closer connection with the bush.
You can read about our reserve and its weather patterns in more detail here.
Step 2: Select Your Suite
Leopard Hills has eight luxury suites, each built on a rocky outcrop overlooking the plains and waterhole below. These suites are totally private and connected by a walkway that also leads you to the main lodge.
Every suite features:
- Glass-fronted views of the bush
- Private plunge pool and sundeck
- Spacious lounge and ensuite bathroom
- Outdoor shower and world-class amenities
Whether you’re looking for a romantic getaway, family adventure, or photography-focused safari, our lodge’s suites are a place you can survey the wilderness (and a few wild visitors) every day over your morning coffee.
