Leopard and Elephant Standoff

Posted on April 17, 2010

Last night Raymond and his Guests experienced an amazing sighting of a Female Leopard letting her inquisitiveness get the better of her as she sized up some Elephant from around the side of a termite mound.

Having decided that they were probably a little too big to hoist up into a tree, discretion became the better part of valor and she slinked off into the bushes to hunt more appropriate prey.

Thanks again to David and Tania Jackson for capturing this amazing footage.

  1. David & Tania, thank you for sharing your awesome sighting … what a treat and something so unusual. Hope you are now ‘hooked’ on Africa.

  2. David & Tania, thank you so much, a still photo could never have captured that moment as you have, we are all in your debt.

  3. What amazing interaction. I suspect VERY few people have had the fortune of experiencing something like this. Thanks for this footage.

  4. Ah yes, the ellies rule!
Look forward to seeing you, Raymond and Gary and all the wonderful folks at LH.

    Cheers! Joy

  5. OMG! This is one of the best sightings I have ever seen, right up there with the Cape Buffalo calf, lion and croc. Thank you soooo much! I’m dying to get back to my beloved South Africa.
