Elephant Antics

Posted on October 10, 2009

The Heat of Summer brought about a spectacular sighting at Hlaba Nkunzi Dam.

The weather has certainly warmed up over the last few days. Heading out on drive yesterday afternoon, the mercury was still hitting the 39 degree mark; we decided to head down the Hlaba Nkunzi Dam and spend the first hour of drive sitting under a large tree for shade, just to see if the heat would entice some game to the waterhole.

We had literally been there for a few minutes when from all around and all directions, elephant began to arrive in mass.

We spent an hour watching the most amazing Elephant antics as they swam and drank; it was truly a memorable sighting.

Ever at the ready with the trusted camera, Allen Wolf managed to capture some of this interaction.

Thanks Allen for putting this on the blog for us and thank Jeff for editing the highlights.
