This morning my guests and I experienced something unbelievable.
This morning a call came over the radio that the Hlaba Nkunzi female leopard caught a new born steenbok lamb and that I should get to the sighting as soon as possible.
Upon arrival I was greeted by one of the most amazing sights that I have ever witnessed. The female leopard caught the day old lamb and was playing with it for almost 40 minutes before killing it.
Raw indeed but animal behaviour at its best.
Incredible sighting. Just this morning I saw a video clip of a Leopard, doing the same with a baby baboon, but instead of killing it the Leopard "protected" it from hyenas..
Thank you Marius,- poignant and endearing at the same time, a graphic insight into Nature.
There is also a Vid Clip of a captive Leopard in the UK, who when fed suffered the indignity of having its food attacked a mouse, when the Leopard intervened with paws and muzzle, the mouse ignored it and carried on eating until it was full. Then walked away !
I think Duncan has the clip.
Curious World indeed !
