A New Addition to the Family and boy is it cute!!

Posted on May 27, 2009

Gary and Raymond had a spectacular Game Drive yesterday, The Mambiri Female Leopard brought out her new cub to show them.

It is always spectacular to see a Leopard in the wild, and we are blessed on such a regular basis to be able to show our Guests these magnificent creatures, however it is almost incomprehensible to witness a Female Leopard bring out her six week old cub, right in front of the Game Drive Vehicle, relaxed and completely unconcerned.

As many of you will know, Mambiri is one of Makwela’s daughters, and it is even more special that her genes are now running strong through the veins of this little cub. This little cub is blissfully unaware of the big “paw prints” she has to live up to with such a “legendary” Grand Mother

We will keep you posted on their progress, and we hope that the future is bright for mother and daughter.

Thanks to Gary for the amazing picture.

  2. Duncan you are unbelievably fortunate … so gorgeous and amazing to be ‘shown’ Mambiri’s cub – wish we could all see her. Thanks hey. Any news on Sand Pride Male? 🙁

  3. Liz Hi.
Funny you should ask, he has been missing for about three weeks and then out of the blue, Raymond saw him this morning north of the Sand River in the "old prides" territory. He is looking a little thin, but is surviving. He must be able to make do as it is now over four months that he has been on his own. Will keep you posted.

  4. Great photo, Gary!!
So glad you, Raymond and your lucky guests got to see them … Mambiri was very shy last time we saw her (with Hannes and the great June in Feb), so how priveleged you all were to see both!
Also, thanks for the positive news about the Sand River Male … he’s been in our thoughts … as has the Wallingford – any news on him?
As always, wish we were there …

  13. Thank you Gary for sharing such an awesome picture that you captured of this darling little leopard cub. Wish I’d been there to see it live, but this will have to do for now…

  14. What a privilege to have captured this. Now the pressure is on for you good people to find this little bundle for me to view in approximately 3 and a bit weeks, hee, hee, counting the days down… Cheers Michelle

  15. I am sure that Makwela was born in Hollywood. She has always know the secreta of ‘show biz’ and passed it on to progeny. Mambiri was stashed on my deck with her sisters when she was 6 monthes old and I havw enjoyed watching her ever since. What a family!
And now Gary, what news of the new pride?

  16. Duncan, thanks so much for letting me know about the Sand Pride Male … that is absolutely fantastic news that he is still around. Thanks hey. Keep us posted.
