I have been a professional field guide since 1999. I have had the privilege to guide in the Waterberg Region, Madikwe Game Reserve, and a private concession in the world famous Kruger National Park and have now been guiding at Leopard Hills since 2004.

In February 2007 I became Head Ranger and Assistant Manager at Leopard Hills and that opened up a whole new world for me. I am currently studying a degree in environmental management and specialize in geography and development studies.

I am a FGASA level 3 trails guide and am planning do my specialist bird guide qualification in the following year. I also have a full South African National Parks Board guiding qualification and a Cyber Tracker Level 1 qualification.

My passion in life is bird watching and I have travelled far and wide to see new species, my most special bird to date, the rare shoebill which I saw at Lake Albert on a recent visit to Uganda. I am also very involved in wild life photography and my images had been published in South Africa, Ireland and in the USA on calendars, brochures, coffee table books and post cards.

I was born in Dumfries village next to the Western part of the Sabi Sand Game Reserve. Growing up looking after my father’s cattle taught me the value of tracking and the interpreting of spoor and various signs of all the animals in the area.

I was a tracker on the Ululapa Property from 1980 and when Leopard Hills opened in 1998 I became the Head Tracker. In 2008 I was one of the few staff that had 10 years service at this phenomenal lodge.

In 2007 I got my big break and after completing my FGASA local guide qualification I got accepted into the guiding department. I also have my Cyber tracker Level 2 qualification and I am currently busy with my Trails Guide qualification.

My favourite animal is the Elephant and I have spent thousands of hours observing these giants of the African bush. Further more I am involved with the training of new trackers at Leopard Hills.

I was born and bred in Durban and have been interested in the African bush my whole life. After coming back from the United Kingdom I studied Game Ranging and Lodge Management at the Allenby Campus where I obtained my diploma.

It was 12 days after I wrote my final exam that I started to guide at Entabeni Game Reserve in the South African Waterberg region. I spent four years there and gained valuable experience in the field and while there obtained my FGASA level 2 trails guide qualification. In 2007 I got my chance to work in the Sabi Sand Game Reserve at Leopard Hills.

My interests are fishing and bird watching.

Born in Johannesburg, I was lucky and privileged enough to come to the Sabi Sands Western Sector at least 4 times a year, staying at Ululapa, a self catering lodge on the same property as Leopard Hills!

After school I went to the Rand Afrikaans University in Johannesburg and studied BCom Accounting for 3 years. During my 3 year study period I spent four, one month working holidays at Leopard Hills, working in all different departments. These experiences were enough to convince me that accounting was definitely not what I intended to do for the rest of my life!

I completed my studies and started at Leopard Hills as Beverage Manager in January 2005, I also studied all aspects of the lodge functions and have now been guiding for the last 2 years.

I have a FGASA level II Trails Guide, as well as a Cyber Tracker Level 2 Qualification.

I enjoy wildlife photography and have traveled to various places in Southern Africa, especially visiting various scuba diving areas.
